HF Litz Wires for Medical Technology
Precision for Life
In medical technology, safety and patient protection are the top priority. Electrical components must meet the strictest standards and work absolutely error-free. High-frequency litz wires from PACK LitzWire enable the miniaturization of life-saving devices while maximizing efficiency and insulation safety.
Whether in MRI systems, surgical devices, or implants – our HF litz wires guarantee reproducible quality and biocompatible solutions for demanding medical applications.
We supply high-quality HF litz wires to manufacturers for:
- Medical measuring devices
- Medical-diagnostic equipment
- Laboratory analytical instruments
- Medical pumps and drives
- Therapy devices
Proven Reliability and Responsibility for Over 90 Years
Medical technology applications require quality that protects life throughout the entire product lifecycle.
- Regulatory Compliance
Our processes and materials are aligned with biocompatible solutions and the requirements of relevant medical technology standards (UL/IEC 60601). - Stable Insulation Concepts
For use in MRI or implants, we develop insulation systems that combine the highest dielectric strength with biocompatible properties. - Complete Traceability
Thanks to 100% in-house manufacturing in Germany, we can precisely document every material batch and every production step. - Reproducible Production Quality
We guarantee that every litz wire exactly corresponds to the qualified requirements – from the first sample to long-term series delivery.
Technical Precision as the Basis for Safe Medical Technology
In medical technology, quality begins long before series production. Materials, geometries, and insulation concepts must be validated early and designed in compliance with standards to reliably avoid subsequent risks in approval and operation.
PACK LitzWire supports development and research teams in the targeted design of HF litz wires:
- Optimization of power losses
- Selection of suitable insulation systems
- Alignment of litz wire geometry with thermal and mechanical loads
Insights from these projects flow directly into our manufacturing. This results in HF litz wires that can be reliably qualified and remain stable throughout the entire lifecycle – for regulatory-compliant and safe medical technology.
Medical technology applications require the highest precision, safety, and regulatory compliance. Electrical components must function reliably over the long term and meet the strictest standards. The following projects demonstrate how PACK LitzWire designs HF litz wires specifically for demanding medical applications and successfully implements them in practice.
Safety isolation transformers in high-frequency surgical devices and imaging systems must meet the highest insulation standards while saving installation space. PACK LitzWire supported a medical technology manufacturer in the development of HF litz wires for isolation transformers according to IEC 61558 and IEC 60601. By using litz wires with multi-layer extruded insulation (Triple Insulated Wire concepts) and film insulation, reinforced insulation could be realized directly on the conductor. This enabled a significantly more compact transformer that maintained the strict safety distances and was seamlessly certified.
In medical imaging equipment such as MRI devices and medical power electronics, transformers and coils must safely insulate very high voltages while efficiently dissipating heat and meeting the industry's strict safety and EMC requirements. PACK LitzWire developed specially designed HF litz wires (RUPALIT®) with high-class insulating enamel for a medical technology manufacturer, which distribute the current uniformly across many fine single wires and effectively prevent hotspots. The result: coils that function reliably even under extreme operating conditions, maintain the highest safety standards, and dissipate heat efficiently at the same time.
PACK LitzWire supported a medical technology manufacturer in the development of high-frequency optimized implant coils that are gentle on tissue, shorten charging times, and meet the highest safety and biocompatibility standards.
Designing the optimal high-frequency litz wire for passive components in power electronics often poses complex challenges for electrical engineers. A groundbreaking research project by Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nuremberg in collaboration with our company demonstrates how significant reductions in winding losses can be achieved through systematic analysis and optimization.
